Some great things to do at drained fountains
2014
Video and participatory project, 3 mins 48 secs
Huge drained fountains built during the Soviet era in Yerevan were once where people gathered and children might go swimming during the hot summer.
Without water today because of issues such as maintenance costs and management, these fountains become poorly maintained and some are half-abandoned. Yet people still go to them to take a break or for a walk. I have thought of several great things we could do there.
I have thought of several great things we could do there. This is part of my journey to explore possibilities of structures—whether they are abandoned, partially abandoned or unmanaged—in urban areas, mirroring the fact that people’s proactive use of them sustain these structures even when they are without any proper care.
Participants: Narek Avoyan and the parkour team he trained in his neighborhood in Yerevan as his own personal initiative as well as Anna Adam and Sally O’Neill.
